Coached by Temple Hall of Fame member Fred Turoff, Chris Wyatt competed for the Owls from 1984 to 1988. He capped a brilliant career by winning the NCAA 1988 floor exercise championship and earned All-American honors. He was Temple's first NCAA champion since 1949 and Turoff's first. During his junior season, besides his NCAA floor exercise title, he took second place on vault to earn another All-American certificate. He also was an All-American in vault in 1987. He won vault titles at the Eastern Intercollegiate Gymnastic League Championship in 1985, 1986 and 1988. He also captured the EIGL floor exercise crown in 1988 as a senior. In addition to starring in floor exercise and vault, he worked all-around for the Owls and finished second in the EIGL all-around his senior year. He began his gymnastics career at Germantown High School where he was a public league standout.Â
