Dionna Harris was a starter on the 1996 United States Olympic softball team that won the gold medal was given the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at Temple's new Ambler Softball Field. A 1990 graduate of Temple, the former Owl second baseman is a two-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference selection and the only A-10 Softball Player of the Year (1989) in the University's history. During the 1989 season, she led the A-10 in homeruns (6), triples (12), RBIs (26) and slugging percentage (.616). The Wilmington, Delaware (Delcastle Tech) product, at the time, held the Temple season record for triples, home runs, total bases, batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
