At the time, Dora Lurie was the highest scorer in Temple women's basketball history. She scored 85 percent of the team's field goals and foul shots from 1919-1922. She was captain of the 1922 team which was Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball Champion. She was a member of the team compiling 67 consecutive victories. She played professional basketball with Scott-Powell team in 1923-1926 touring United States and Canada. She was the first woman athlete to become a byline sportswriter for the Philadelphia Inquirer where she covered women's and men's sports for 23 years. She was also the first woman in the United States Lawn Tennis Writers Association.
