Doris Martin Griffith was an outstanding varsity athlete, playing on the Temple field hockey team from 1958 to 1961. She was the team co-captain as well and also played four years of lacrosse and was basketball team manager for four years. During her active career, she was an All-College II player in 1958 and 1959 and was an All-College I in 1960 and 1961. She was All-Philadelphia II in 1960 and 1961 and was on All-American reserve in 1960 and 1961. She received the Temple University Award in 1962 and received the WAA Blazer Award her junior year (1961). She was also a Magnet Honor Society.  At graduation, she received the HPERD Alumni Award and the Owlette Award. She was a HPERD Major Club secretary in 1959 and 1960, vice president in 1960-61 and president in 1961-62. She also was a Delta Psi Kappa member and coached and taught at both the high school and college level and started the field hockey program at Penn State's Delaware County campus. She has also done volunteer youth work for the Media and Upper Providence Township Recreation Organization.
