Dorothy Hucknall Wyld

Teammate with Ida C. Watters Smith on the swimming squad of 1929, Dorothy Hucknall Wyld, known as "Dor," was a graduate of Germantown High School. She was referred to as one of the "Four Horsemen of Temple's Women's Athletics." She was the Intercollegiate Diving Champion in 1926 and was also a member of record-setting relay team. She held the record for the 40-yard freestyle, an event in which she was known as the best on the East Coast. She played right winger on the Cherry & White's field hockey squad and was President of the Women's Athletic Association. She joined Prudence Fleming in organizing the Swimming Association at the Penn Athletic Club and is the key founder of the Philadelphia Board of Girls Swimming. She taught in Philadelphia at Tilden Junior High, Harding Junior High and Bartram High School.
