  • Induction:
    1994
  • Class:
    1953
When the Owls won the national soccer championship in 1953, Ed Tatoian was named Temple's most valuable player. He scored both goals in Temple’s win over San Francisco, 2-0, for the 1951 national championship title. The victory snapped San Francisco's 40-game unbeaten streak. In 1953 when Temple had a perfect (9-0-0) record, his heroics against Army helped make this possible. The Owls trailed 2-1 until Ed scored four goals in the last nine minutes of the game. After graduation, he moved on to play professional soccer and in 1961 he starred for the Ukrainian Nationals team that won the United States National Championship. Before coming to Temple, Ed was an all-star performer at Northeast High School.
