A two time All-American, Elaine Turchi starred for Temple from 1981 to 1984. She was the fourth highest scorer in Temple field hockey history at the time with 117 points. She scored 51 goals and was credited with 15 assists. She also held the record for most points in one game, scoring 13 points against Glassboro State on October 29, 1981. She had six goals and one assist in the win over Glassboro. She shares the most goals, one game record with Jane Catanzaro who also had six goals in games against Drexel and Hofstra during the 1990 season. She earned All-American honors after the 1981 and 1984 seasons. She made the AIWA All-Tournament team in 1981. She played an important role as Temple made the Final Four in her freshman and senior seasons. She made the field hockey team as a walk on and quickly developed into a standout. She played basketball at Temple as a freshman and softball as a junior and senior. An outstanding all-around athlete at Lincoln High School, she earned All-public League honors in field hockey, basketball and softball. She was the team captain and Most Valuable Player for the Lincoln High Field Hockey and basketball teams.
