Director of Athletics for 23 years, Ernie Casale had produced the most successful intercollegiate athletics program in University's history and one of the best in nation. Temple has had each of its 13 teams involved in some sort of championship under him. He was extremely active in local and national athletic conferences and has served in many high capacities. He held the office of President of Eastern College Athletic Conference and its wrestling, gymnastics and basketball leagues. He has been Assistant Executive Director of Middle Atlantic Conference and Vice President and Member of Executive Council of National Collegiate Athletic Association. He was a member of Temple baseball team for three years and varsity coach for seven of most successful years in school's history.
