Captain of Temple's 1988 NCAA championship lacrosse team, Gail Cummings-Danson was the Most Valuable Player in the NCAA Tournament. She earned All-American honors in 1986, 1987 and 1988. She was a USWLA All-American and Brine lacrosse all-Region selection in 1986, 1987 and 1988. During her four years as a member of the lacrosse team, Temple had three undefeated regular seasons and reached the final four of the NCAA Tournament four times. Coached by Temple Hall of Famer Tina Sloan Green, she held numerous Owl records at the time, including most points/career (378), most points/season (118), most goals/career (289), most goals/season (88), most assists/career (89) and most assists/season (30). She graduated cum laude in 1988 from the College of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and also holds Master's and Doctoral degrees from Temple University. She was a GTe Academic All-American and an NCAA Top Six Finalist (for academics and athletics).
