George Patton

George Patton played three years of varsity baseball at Temple and was team captain in 1934 and 1935. He also captained the Owl freshman team in 1932 and was one of the finest catchers in the University's history. He signed with the Philadelphia Athletics after his senior season in 1935 and batted .300. In 1976, he was inducted into the Central Chapter-Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He received the Connie Mack Youth Award for service to the Youth League in 1964. He taught in the Highspire School District from 1939 to 1942 and coached football, basketball and baseball. Following a stint in the service, he started teaching and coaching in the Southern Area School District in 1946 where he was also faculty manager of athletics for five years. He was principal of the Indian Crest Junior High School in Souderton from 1964 to 1978. He earned both of his degrees from Temple University.
