Hal Lear

Fourth highest scorer in Temple basketball history, Hal Lear was the leading point-maker on 1955-56 team that compiled 27-4 record and finished third in NCAA Tournament after his 48 point outburst against Southern Methodist gave the Owls third place. He combined with Guy Rogers, another Temple Hall of Famer, to form one of basketball's greatest fast-break combinations. Winner of All-American honors, he had a career total of 1,472 points. At the time, he held one season record with 745 points as a senior when he averaged 24.0 points a game. He had 467 points as a junior for 22.2 average. He starred in Eastern Professional League where he did prolific scoring. He was also a brilliant player at Philadelphia's Overbrook High where he earned numerous honors.
