He earned his degree from Temple in 1943 and was awarded varsity letters as manager of the basketball, soccer, tennis and golf teams. He ranks as the "Last of the Mohicans," being the only individual who worked for the National Basketball Association in its inaugural 1946-47 season, and who is still working for an NBA team today. The author of Harvey Pollack's NBA Statistics Yearbook that is thoroughly digested by pro basketball writers throughout the world, he has been honored often by the NBA and has been nominated for the National Basketball Hall of Fame. He has also edited newspapers and magazines. He has been Temple's football statistician since his graduation, and his son, Ron, also a Temple graduate, is a member of his crew. During his undergraduate days, Harvey was sports editor of the Temple News, sports editor of The Templar and editor of The Owl Magazine
