Howard Evans

One of the finest point guards in Temple history, Howard Evans held several University records at the time after playing 132 games for the Owls (1984-88). He sparked Temple to the nation's No. 1 ranking in 1988. He was known to be Temple's 16th highest scorer with 1,459 points and he owned the records for assists in a career (748), in a season (294 in 1987-88) and in a game (20 vs. Villanova in 1988). He was also Temple's all-time free throw leader during his time at 84.1 percent, making 360 of 428 attempts, and was at his best in clutch situations. Selected Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year (1984-85 season), he owned the Conference records for career assists (381) and assists in a season (164 in 1987-88). He made the A-10 first team as a senior. Named to the All Big Five first team after the 1978-88 season, he was inducted into the Big Five Hall of Fame in 1994.
