Jacob L. Meehl was a three-year starter for the Temple soccer team from 1965 to 1967. He earned honorable mention on the All-American team as a sophomore and junior and in 1967, as a senior, he was named to the first All-American team. He was voted top player in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware area and was also selected Temple's MVP. Before starring for Temple, he was a standout at Frankford High School in both soccer and baseball. He played professional soccer from 1967 to 1980. He played for the Philadelphia Atoms' 1973 North American Soccer League championship team. He played with the Philadelphia Fever in the Major Indoor Soccer League during the 1979-80 season. He was also an assistant coach with the Fever. He was the varsity coach at Bensalem High School for 13 years. He was an assistant coach at Princeton for two years before going to Textile. He coached the F.C. Bayern (men's amateur team) to three consecutive league championships and to the finals of the 1981 National Amateur Cup.
