Jay Hallman pitched for the Owls from 1976 to 1979. He compiled an outstanding 24-2 career record. He was a perfect 10-0 as a sophomore and helped Temple earn a berth in the 1977 college world series. The Owls compiled a 34-9 record and were 9-0 in the East Coast conference. Jay held the Temple career pitching record at the time with the winning percentage (.923) and ranks in other categories. He was credited with eight career saves, which was the third best in Temple history. He was fourth in wins (24). At the time he tied for first in single season wins (10 in 1977) and was second in saves (6 in 1976).
