Jerry Rullo was a three sport star for the Owls from 1941 to 1947. He captained the basketball and soccer teams and also played baseball. His college days were interrupted by World War II where he served in the United States Army. He returned to the University where he served as junior varsity basketball coach while playing for the first Philadelphia Warriors professional championship team. He later played for the Baltimore Bullets and Philadelphia SPHAS. For 33 years, he was a coach and supervisor for the Philadelphia Department of Recreation, retiring in 1983. He refereed both high school and collegiate basketball and soccer. He also umpired high school and college baseball. After his tenure with Baltimore and Philadelphia, he played with and coached the Sunbury team in the Eastern League for nine years, winning several championships. He came to Temple on an athletic scholarship after captaining the basketball team and playing on a championship baseball team at Philadelphia's John Bartram High School. He earned three letters each in soccer and basketball and one in baseball at Temple.
