John Granozio

John Granozio was Temple's star third baseman for three years and started 63 consecutive games. He made the 1957 NCAA District II All-Star team after sparking the Owls to a 16-4 record. He was the winner of the Temple University Award for combined scholastic and athletic excellence. He was the Owls' co-captain his senior season. In 1957, he batted .345 while leading the team in runs scored with 26. He hit .407 as a junior to top the Owls. He had 35 hits, another team high, in 1956 and also starred in the field with a .909 percentage. He was a member of Temple's 1955-56 basketball team that captured the NCAA Eastern championship and national third place honors. He was a baseball and basketball star at LaSalle High School and Germantown Academy before coming to Temple. He captained LaSalle as a senior and hit .350 as the Little Explorers won the Catholic League championship. He hit .320 his junior year at LaSalle. At Germantown Academy, he starred in baseball and football with GA winning championships in both sports. He batted a lusty .469 there.
