Marty Gilbert

Marty Gilbert was captain of the 1967 Temple tennis team. He was a three-year standout and was undefeated during his junior and senior seasons. He compiled a brilliant 33-1 match play record and was a finalist for the ECAC Division I championship in 1967. From 1971 to 1979, he was tennis coach and assistant basketball coach at Haverford College. He was the director and head coach of the Israel Tennis center in Ashkelon from 1979 to 1982. He has continued playing tennis since his graduation with great success. He was ranked #1 in New Jersey for Men's 35 and over in 1983, 1984 and 1985. He was ranked #2 in Middle States (PA, NJ and DE) for Men's 35 and over in 1984. He was ranked #47 in the nation for Men's 35 and over in 1984. In the summer of 1985, he was manager of the United States Men's and Women's Tennis Teams at the Maccabiah Games in Israel. He was also coach of the Junior US team at the Maccabiah Games.
