Maude V. Sharpe was a participant in basketball and hockey at Temple. She played hockey and lacrosse for all-Philadelphia Clubs, district, regional and national tournaments. She also ran track for the Meadowcreek Club. While in college, she began coaching high school basketball. In 14 years, she posted 236 wins of 287 games at local high schools. She pioneered examining board for basketball officials. She also served on National Basketball Examining Board Committee for 19 years. For both basketball and hockey, she held an outstanding officials ratings for 20 years. She received honorary ratings in basketball in 1946 and hockey in 1951. She chaired national, sectional and local conferences and committees for hockey official's rating. She was a recipient of the Betty Davidson Award for excellence and service to Phi Delta Pi 1968.
