Mike Vreeswyk was the sixth highest scorer in Temple's men's basketball history at the time with 1,650 points. He held the University record for career three-pointers made with 271 from 1985 to 1989. He played in 119 games as an Owl and averaged 13.9 points per game. Co-captain of the 1988-89 team, he made the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Star squad. The A-10 leader in foul shooting (87.0%), he finished 23rd nationally. He ranked 15th in the nation in three point field goals made per game (3.2) as a senior. After scoring only 28 points as a freshman, he showed continual improvement. He averaged 14.5 points per game as a sophomore, 16.7 as a junior, and 17.8 as a senior. His career high of 29 points came against St. Bonaventure, and his career best eight three-pointer against La Salle. He was named "Chevrolet Player for the Game" for scoring 21 points at North Carolina State and 17 points at Notre Dame. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame in 1995. He made the Big 5 first All-Star team as a senior and the second team as a junior.
