Norm Boardman

Norm Boardman was known as Temple’s only two-time NCAA gymnastics champion at the time. In 1940 and 1942, Norm was crowned the NCAA champion for the horizontal bar. He was the star of the Temple team that won the Eastern Intercollegiate Gymnastics League title in 1941. As Temple’s team captain in 1942, he received the prestigious TU Award for Outstanding Academic and Athletic Achievement. Following his graduation and military service, he continued his gymnastics activities. He founded the Metro Gymnastics Association and served as its executive director. Throughout the rest of his life, he judged international, collegiate and junior Olympics men’s gymnastics programs. He was named MGJA executive director emeritus after retiring from active judging in 1991.
