Paul Palmer rewrote the Temple record book for rushing and scoring during a brilliant four year career that was climaxed by being the runner-up for the coveted Heisman and Maxwell Trophies in 1986. Selected as first team All-American by Associated Press, United Press International, The Sporting News, Scripps-Howard, Walter Camp, Kodak, College Football Weekly and The Football News, he earned many additional honors. He was MVP of the Hula Bowl and Blue-Gray Games and a first team All-east pick four times. Some of his Temple records included most points/career (264), most touchdowns/season (15 in 19..), most rushing yardage/career (4,895), most rushing yardage/season (1,866 in 1986), most rushing yardage/game (349 vs. East Carolina in 1986), all-purpose yards/career (6,613) and all-purpose yards/season (2,633 in 1986). He was selected in the first round of the NFL draft by Kansas City and also played in the NFL with the Cowboys and Lions.
