Undefeated in four years of dual meet wrestling competition against outstanding opposition, Pete Bernardino co-captained the Owls as a senior. He was one of the standouts as Temple was undefeated during the 1940-41 season, compiling an 8-0 record. Pete starred at Upper Darby High School before coming to Temple and was the unbeaten District champion. He returned to Upper Darby High as head wrestling coach after his graduation from Temple and had a brilliant record from 1946 through 1965. Bernardino produced 12 District I championship teams, had 11 undefeated squads and coached six Pennsylvania High School State finalists. He was also head cross-country and assistant baseball coach. Bernardino was inducted into the Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1977.
