Pete DiFurio

 A brilliant all-around performer during his four years at Temple University, Pete DiFurio climaxed his career by winning the Nissen Award in 1970 as the Outstanding Collegiate Gymnast in the United States. During his senior season, as the Owls' captain, he won numerous medals. In the Eastern Intercollegiate Gymnastics League championships, he finished first in the All-Around, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar events and took third place in Floor Exercise. He was runner-up for the 1970 NCAA All-Around championship and was sixth in both the Horizontal Bar and Rings events. He also won medals at the 1968 and 1969 EIGL championships and helped Temple win the 1968 EIGL team title. He starred at Philadelphia's John Bartram High School before enrolling at Temple. He was a coach at the Academy of Gymnastics in Cherry Hill, N.J. when he died in an accident in 1977.
