Pete Lorenc

During the years 1940, 1941, 1942 and 1943, Pete Lorenc earned 10 letters while starring for the baseball, soccer and basketball teams. He came to Temple on a basketball scholarship and immediately displayed his all-around athletic ability. He was captain of the soccer team and was outstanding in that sport. He was First team soccer All-American during the 1941, 1942 and 1943 seasons. Following his graduation from Temple, he played five years in the American Professional Soccer League. Temple had some of its better baseball teams while he played and the Owls were undefeated in the Eastern League. He was invited to spring training by the Phillies before entering the Navy and becoming an officer. He served in the Korean conflict in 1950. Besides starring in athletics, he was an outstanding student and was inducted in the prestigious "Blue Key" Club. After the war, he coached and taught in the Philadelphia public school system.
