Randy Grossman was a three-year starter at tight end for Temple and was named to the AP third All-American team as a senior in 1973. He helped the Owls to a 9-1 record that season, the best in Owls' history at the time. He also earned All-East honors and was invited to play in the North-South Game. He led Temple in pass receiving as a senior with 39 catches, good for 683 yards and four touchdowns. He had a career total of 89 receptions. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent and helped that professional team win four Super Bowls. He played eight seasons with the Steelers. He enjoyed his finest season in 1978 when the Steelers won their third Super Bowl. He set personal marks that year with 37 receptions for 441 yards. He caught a touchdown pass in Pittsburgh's 21-17 victory over Dallas in Super Bowl X. During his pro career, he caught 118 passes for 1514 yards and five touchdowns. He came to Temple from Haverford High School where he earned numerous honors. He was named to the All-State, All-League and All-Delaware County teams.
