Richard M. Englert

Arguably no one has done more for Temple than former University President Richard M. Englert. During his 45 years at the school, he has served in several other prominent positions, including acting Director of Athletics in 1996.
During his tenure as acting AD, Englert oversaw the ground-breaking of the now Liacouras Center as well as the men’s basketball team and women’s fencers earning berths in the NCAAs. His tenure also touched athletics in another one of his roles, Vice President of Administration, as one of his responsibilities in that position was overseeing the department of athletics.
