A member of the 1952 United States Olympic Team, Robert Stout is one of the greatest gymnasts in Temple history. He won numerous championships while competing for the Owls. He captured NCAA championships in floor exercise and on horizontal bar. He won three Eastern Intercollegiate Gymnastics League all-around titles and also won event championships in tumbling, horizontal bar and parallel bars. He was the National AAU all-around champion in 1952 and 1953, winning event titles in vaulting, floor exercise and horizontal bar. He earned both his BS degree in Education (with honors) and Master's degree from Temple. He is one of the nation's leading gymnastics judges. He coached gymnastics for 17 years and is the past president of Eastern Judges Association. He was the Philadelphia Public League Champion in 1942 and 1943 while competing for Northeast High School.
