Holder of several Temple records, Steve Conjar was an outstanding linebacker during the 1978, 1979, 1980, and 1981 seasons. He earned numerous honors and was captain of the 1981 team. Named to the Associated Press All-American team in 1980 and 1981, he was first team AP All-East as a senior and second team his junior year. Selected Temple's most valuable linebacker three times, he also received three leading tackler awards. He was honored with a weekly Maxwell Club Award. At the time, he held the Temple records for total tackles (492), most tackles in a season (174 in 1980), most solo tackles in a season (115 in 1980), most assisted tackles in a career (221) and most assisted tackles in a game (16 against Rutgers in 1980). Temple's leading tackler in 1979, 1980 and 1981, he starred on the 1979 nationally ranked team that won the Garden State Bowl.Â
