"I feel extremely privileged to be considered for this honor, and my years in athletics have been very rewarding," said 1986 Hall of Fame inductee Suzanne Bell Stashis. A look at Stashis' athletic career substantiates that statement. Stashis was a four-year member of Temple's basketball, field hockey and lacrosse teams and captained each squad for at least one season. A 1960 graduate with a B.S. in physical education, she received her Master's degree from Temple in 1964. As a field hockey player, she was named to the All-College II team in 1956 and the All-College I team 1957 to 1959. She also made the All-Philadelphia second team in 1959. Stashis helped lead Temple to a 6-0-2 record in the 1958 campaign. She left her mark in basketball, scoring 34 points in a game against Beaver College on February 18th, 1959 (a record that held for 24 years). She received the Letter, Plaque and Blazer awards from the Women's Athletic Association and served as secretary and treasurer of the WAA. A member of the Kappa Delta Epsilon honorary society, she graduated with a 3.4 grade point average. In addition, she was Vice-President and President of Delta Psi Kappa in 1958-59. Her interest in athletics did not wane after graduation from Temple, as she continued to compete in field hockey, backetball and softball through 1972. A native of Audubon, NJ, she returned to the Garden State to teach physical education and driver education at Delaware Township/Cherry Hill West High School. She was also a respected athletic offical in New Jersey, receiving the West Jersey Women's Basketball Officials 13 Years Service Award.
