Ted Quedenfeld competed in three sports at Temple while earning six letters. He has also made his mark at the University as an administrator. He earned three letters in wrestling, captaining the Owls in 1959 and 1960. He lettered twice in swimming and was co-captain as a senior. He was awarded one track letter. While starring in athletics, he also found time to serve as Temple’s head student trainer. He was appointed head athletic trainer at the University in 1960 and served in that position until 1975. He then played an important role in the formation of the Temple University Center for Sports Medicine. In 1972, he was presented the Benjamin Rush Award given annually by the Philadelphia County Medical Society. The award recognizes “the one Lay Individual who has given outstanding service to the health and welfare of the people of Philadelphia.” He has volunteered his services to Philadelphia area youth since his graduation from Temple.
