Tim Claxton starred for Temple from 1974 to 1978. He led the Owls in scoring during the 1977-78 season when he was named to the Philadelphia Big 5 all-star first team. During that season, he scored 540 points for an average of 18.6 points per game. Amongst his fellow teammates, he led Temple in rebounds and free throw accuracy. For a brief period of time, he held the McGonigle Hall one game scoring record and scored 1,418 points during his career. He was named winner of the Gallagher Award for Most Improved Player in the Big 5. In 1987, he was inducted into the Big 5 Hall of Fame in 1987. He was one of the first inductees into the Germantown High School Hall of Fame where he earned all-public and all-city honors. Before passing away in 1980, he was drafted by the Washington Bullets in 1978.
