Seven Athletes On Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Teams

PHILADELPHIA (June 15, 1999) -- Seven Temple student-athletes were named to six different Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference teams, it was announced today. Baseball: Peter Moore (Hatboro-Horsham/Hatboro, PA) maintained a 3.27 GPA en route to being named the A-10 Pitcher of the Year. The elementary education major, who played at both the pitcher and catcher positions, led the Owls to a second place finish in the East Division. Lacrosse: Jessica Larkin (Phoenixville/Phoenixville, PA) led the defense while earning a 3.20 GPA in elementary education. Larkin was also named to the A-10 All-Conference team. The conference's Offensive Player of the Year, Nicole Ross (Arundel/Odenton, MD), was also named to the team. Ross, a business major, maintained a 3.12 GPA while leading the Owls with 67 goals. Women's Rowing: Sarah Klem (Central Catholic/Allentown, PA), an honors journalism major, helped the Owls earn a third place finish in the A-10 while maintaining a 3.56 GPA. A member of the varsity eight, Klem and her team rowed to a fourth place finish in the Grand Final of the 1999 Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta. Softball: Infielder Christi Ragan (Downingtown/Coatesville, PA) earned a 3.30 GPA in Physical Education. The sophomore led the Owls in batting with a .292 average, while helping her team finish 9-7 in the A-10. Men's Tennis: Sophomore Krishane Pillay (Johannesburg, South Africa) earned a 3.59 GPA. He finished 22-6 in singles. Pillay, an International Business major, was named to the A-10 All Championship team while helping the Owls to a third place finish in the A-10. Women's Tennis: Number one singles player Tamara Truta (Westboro, MA/Split, Croatia) maintained a 3.49 GPA as a dual Finance/Business Management major. She earned a team-best 24-12 record in singles. The sophomore was also named to the A-10 All-Championship team and helped the Owls finish second in the conference. To be eligible for selection to the A-10 Academic All-Conference teams, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.00 and be a starter or key reserve on his/her team.
