6.21.99 | Men's Gymnastics

PHILADELPHIA (June 21, 1999) -- Temple gymnast Mike Moran (Loomis-Chaffee/Windsor, CT)

qualified for the Pan-American team after competing in trials this past

weekend in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Moran, a three-time All-American under head coach Fred Turoff, is also a

member of the 1998-99 U.S. National team. The junior was the only Owl

to qualify for this season's NCAA Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska,

but could not compete due to injury.

Moran marks the third Temple gymnast to be named to the Pan-American

team. Dominick Minicucci (1991-92) made the squad in 1991 and Bill Roth

(1988-92) was selected in 1995. Kenny Sykes (1993-97), who competed at

the qualifying meet with Moran, just missed qualifying.

Moran will compete at the Pan-American Games in Winnipeg, Canada, from

July 24-27, 1999.
