Temple's Aaron Murphy to Compete at U.S.A. Gymnastics Championships

PHILADELPHIA -- Former Temple University gymnast Aaron Murphy (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman HS) will compete in the all-around competition at the 2001 U.S.A. Gymnastics Championships to be held at the Liacouras Center next week (August 8-11).

Murphy, 23, is the only athlete from the 11-member East Coast Athletic Conference to qualify for the U.S.A. Championships this year. He completed his Temple career this past April by competing in the all-around competition at the NCAA Championships held in Columbus, Ohio.

The 2001 U.S.A. Gymnastics Championships is the first of three major gymnastics events set to take place on the Temple campus. The 2002 ECAC Men's Gymnastics Championships will take place March 23-24 in McGonigle Hall. The 2003 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships are to be held at the Liacouras Center on April 10-12, 2003.
