PHILADELPHIA -- Temple University will host the 2003 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships at the Liacouras Center on April 10-12, 2003, it was announced today by Director of Athletics Dave O'Brien.

The 2003 Men's NCAA Championships is the third major gymnastics event set to take place on the Temple campus. The 2001 U.S.A. Gymnastics Championships get underway next week (August 8-11) at the Liacouras Center. The 2002 ECAC Men's Gymnastics Championships will take place March 23-24 in McGonigle Hall.

"We are very happy to host events that possess both the tradition and competitive excellence that these three championships offer," said O'Brien. "We look forward to working with the athletes, coaches and support personnel to provide Delaware Valley gymnastics fans memorable and exciting experiences in a comfortable environment."

The 2003 Championships will be the third NCAA Men's Gymnastics championships hosted by Temple University. Temple previously hosted the event in 1970 and 1976.

Temple is no stranger to hosting NCAA events. Most recently, the Owls hosted the 2000 NCAA Men's Division I-A East Regional Golf Tournament at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic, Pa. Additionally, in conjunction with Glenmaura National Golf Club, Temple has submitted a bid to host a future NCAA Men's Golf Championship.
