TEMPLE MEN'S GYMNASTICS PLACES THIRD AT WEST POINT OPEN

The Temple University men's gymnastics team posted a 199.450 team score to place third overall out of 12 teams at the United States Military Academy's West Point Open. The Owls were out-paced by Penn State (1st, 209.500) and Massachusetts (2nd, 204.000) in the two-day event held at Christl Arena, January 11-12.
Temple's best event of the competition was the parallel bars, where the team placed second overall with a 33.050 score. The Owls finished third or better in four events, placing third on rings (33.100), vault (35.900) and horizontal bar (33.100).
Individually, junior Theo Maes placed third in two events, showing on both vault (9.300) and horizontal bar (8.700). Junior Richie Maguire placed third on rings with a 9.000 score and tied for fourth on parallel bars with a 8.400 effort.
