No. 12 MEN'S GYMNASTICS TEAM CONCLUDES BUSY WEEKEND WITH WIN AT JAMES MADISON

1.27.02 | Men's Gymnastics

The Temple men's gymnastics team, ranked 12th nationally, concluded a busy weekend with a 196.125-179.300 dual meet victory at James Madison on Sunday, January 27. The Owls swept five of six events and posted an impressive team score of 35.400 on vault.

Juniors Theo Maes and Travis Pummer each won two events in the dual meet. Maes placed first on vault with a 9.250 performance and won horizontal bar with a 8.825 score. Pummer placed first on pommel horse with a 7.650 score and led the way on parallel bars with an 8.500 effort. Freshman Nyika White placed first on still rings with a 8.900 score.

Temple opened the weekend with a second place finish in a tri-meet at William and Mary on Saturday, January 26. The Owls finished with a 204.225 team score behind William & Mary (205.500) and ahead of Illinois-Chicago (201.925).

Junior Richie Maguire placed first on horizontal bar (8.850) en route to a second place finish in the all-around with a 50.850 score at the tri-meet. Senior Brian Munn captured first on still rings with a 8.975 effort.
