NO. 12 RANKED TEMPLE MEN'S GYMNASTICS TEAM DEFEATS NO. 17 RANKED ARMY

2.1.02 | Men's Gymnastics

The No. 12 ranked Temple University men's gymnastics team won four of six events en route to a 208.200-205.000 dual-meet victory over No. 17 Army at McGonigle Hall on Friday, February 1, 2002. The Owls won the pommel horse (34.500), rings (34.750), vault (36.500) and parallel bars (34.150), while Army captured floor exercise (35.650) and horizontal bar (33.450).

Temple junior Theo Maes won two events, posting a 9.150 on floor exercise and a 9.300 on vault. Teammates Richard Maguire, Alex Weber and Nyika White also captured event victories. Maguire won parallel bars with a 8.950 effort, Weber won the pommel horse with a 9.150 and White posted the best score on rings with a 8.900. Maguire and Weber both competed in the all-around for the Owls and registered 52.550 and 52.400 scores, respectively.

For Army, Troy Pazcoguin and John Robella each posted meet-best scores of 8.450 on horizontal bar. Dustin Greenhill competed in the all-around for the Black Knights and scored a 51.450.

The Owls, under the direction of 26th-year head coach Fred Turoff, next compete at No. 8 Massachusetts in a dual meet versus the Minutemen this Sunday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. in Amherst, Mass.
