TEMPLE MEN'S GYMNASTICS PLACES THIRD AT SANTA BARBARA INVITATIONAL

3.10.02 | Men's Gymnastics

The No. 10 ranked Temple University men's gymnastics team placed third at the Santa Barbara Invitational on Saturday, March 9. The final scores were California (214.200), California-Santa Barbara (208.025), Temple (206.325), Air Force (200. 875) and University of Washington (172.450). Temple won the rings with a 35.950 team effort.

Temple junior Richie Maguire tied for first place in the vault with a score of 9.200. Maguire also tied for second on floor exercise. Freshman Nyika White tied for second on rings with a showing of 9.150. Maguire and junior Alex Weber both competed in the all-around for Temple and registered 50.900 and 51.000 scores, respectively.

Ben MacColl led the University of Washington with a 45.000 in the all-around. California's Cody Moore led the floor exercise with a 9.550 showing. Moore also won the pommel horse and parallel bars, en route to winning the all-around with a 55.450 score.

For Air Force, Aaron Jackson posted a 50.650 all-around score. Steven Smith posted an all-around effort of 51.600 for the host team, California-Santa Barbara.

The Owls next meet will be hosted by Navy with Illinois-Chicago in Annapolis, Maryland on Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m.
