NO. 11 TEMPLE MEN'S GYMNASTICS TEAM WINS QUAD-MEET AT NAVY

3.17.02 | Men's Gymnastics

The Temple University men's gymnastics team, ranked 11th nationally, won five of six events en route to a quad-meet victory at the United States Naval Academy that included William & Mary and Illinois-Chicago on Sunday, March 17. The Owls posted a 210.950 score, besting the Tribe (207.500), Midshipmen (204.950), and Flames (203.450).

Temple won the floor exercise (35.450), still rings (36.825), vault (37.050), parallel bars (33.950) and horizontal bar (34.800). The Owls placed third on pommel horse with a 32.850 team score.

Individually, the Owls had three event victories. Richie Maguire won two events, scoring a 9.300 on floor exercise and a 8.800 on parallel bars. Freshman Nyika White had the best showing on still rings with a 9.525 effort. Maguire was also the competition's best all-around competitor with a 53.100 score.

Temple returns to action next weekend, March 23-24, at the ECAC Championships at McGonigle Hall. Eleven programs will compete for the ECAC title, including defending champion Massachusetts.
