TEMPLE MEN'S GYMNASTICS PLACES SIXTH IN FIRST SESSION OF NCAA QUALIFYING COMPETITION

4.4.02 | Men's Gymnastics

The Temple University men's gymnastics team, ranked 11th nationally, placed sixth with a 204.300 team score in session I of the NCAA qaulifying competition on Thursday, April 4, 2002, in Norman Oklahoma. The top three teams from the afternoon (session I) and evening (session II) competitions advance to the NCAA Championships, April 5-6 in Norman.

Ohio State (215.375), Michigan (214.075) and Stanford (214.000) advanced from the afternoon competition. Oklahoma, Penn State, California, Iowa, UMASS and William & Mary compete during the evening session.

Individual competitors can advance to event finals dependant upon qualification in preliminary competition. Temple's top event finisher during the afternoon session was Theo Maes, who tied for fourth place with a 9.200 score on vault.
