WHITE, MAES AND KITCHEN PERFORM WELL IN NCAA PRELIMINARY ROUND

Temple gymnasts Nyika White, Theo Maes and Travis Kitchen performed well in the preliminary round of the NCAA Championships, held Friday evening, April 5, in Norman Oklahoma, but failed to reach the event finals.
White scored a 9.225 on the rings to place 12th, just missing the 9.300 score necessary to qualify for event finals.
Maes earned a 9.225 score on vault to place 17th while Kitchen posted an 8.400 effort on parallel bars to finish 31st.
Temple, under the direction of head coach Fred Turoff, concluded 2002 with a 17-9 regular season record and a 33-9 overall competition mark. The Owls captured their 21st ECAC/EIGL Championship on March 23 at McGonigle Hall.
