MEN'S GYMNASTICS PLACES THIRD AT HOME TRI MEET

2.15.03 | Men's Gymnastics

PHILADELPHIA -- In front of a home crowd of more than 300 people, the Temple University Men's Gymnastics team placed third with a score of 207.450 this afternoon, February 15, 2003 in McGonigle Hall. The Owls were defeated by Penn State with a score of 216.050 and Illinois with a score of 213.350.

The Cherry and White were led by senior Alex Weber who tied for first place in the pommel horse with a score of 9.400 and placed fourth overall in the All-Around. In addition, sophomore Nykia White took second place on the rings with a score of 9.600. Sophomore David Ramos led the Owls in the floor exercise with a fourth place finish and a score of 8.900 while junior John Behrle took seventh place on the vault with a score of 9.100. Senior Jason Moresi led the Owls on the high bar with an eighth place finish and a score of 8.650.

Penn State's Kevin Donohue and Luis Vargas took first and third place in the All-Around with scores of 54.200 and 52.050 respectively. Illinois' Adam Pummer took second place with a score of 53.500 while Scott Wetterling took fifth place with a score of 51.050.

The meet was originally slated to feature four teams including The College of William and Mary who was unable to make the meet due to inclement weather.

Next up for the Owls is a road trip on Sunday, February 23 to face Springfield.
