MEN'S GYMNASTICS PLACES FIRST IN HOME TRI-MEET

PHILADELPHIA, PA.-The Temple men's gymnastics team (6-3) defeated Illinois-Chicago and the Naval Academy on Saturday,March 23 at McGonigle Hall. The Owls (210.47) placed first ahead of Illinois-Chicago (203.75) and Navy (191.40). Temple was led by senior Alex Weber, who placed first in four events. Sophomore Nykia White Williamstown, N.C./Williamstown), and freshman David Ramos each won one event. Illinois --Chicago's Matt Musielak captured the floor to prevent Temple from sweeping first in all events.
Weber placed first on the vault(9.125), parallel bars (8.500),the all-around (52.975) and on the horse (9.400).Ramos placed first on the horizontal bar(9.050)and White placed first on the rings (9.650)."We did well in the first four events and had a let down in the last two events", said Temple head coach Fred Turoff. "Hopefully we got rid of the pre-ECAC jitters".
The Owls, the defending ECAC Champions will next participate in the ECAC Championship in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 28-29. The meet on Friday, Mar. 29 will start at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, Mar. 29 at 1p.m.
