1.16.04 | Men's Gymnastics
Veteran head coach Fred Turoff will embark on his 28th year looking for strong performances from his nine returning seniors and one All-American, junior Nyika White. White, who placed third on rings at the 2003 NCAA National Championships, will also compete on floor exercise and vault for the Owls. Senior captain Toros Torcomian, who qualified for the NCAA Championships on rings last year, will also challenge the competition on vault. Seniors Kevin Hallinan and Travis Kitchen will serve as strong contenders for the Owls in the all-around competition.
Army enters the meet ranked 13th in the nation. In the 2003 regular season, Temple and Army split their series. In postseason action, Temple captured the 2003 ECAC Championship title by out-scoring second-place Army by 4.20 points in the meet.
Temple defeated Southern Connecticut twice in the regular season last year. Southern Connecticut finished 7th at the 2003 ECAC Championship meet, 24.425 points behind the champion Owls.
This is the first of only two home meets for Temple on the season. The Owls other home meet takes place on Saturday, February 21 against Springfield and MIT.
