MEN'S GYMNASTICS DEFEATS ARMY AND SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT IN HOME SEASON OPENER

Returning to the Owls' lineup after a broken ankle sidelined him for the entire 2003 season, Maes won the vault (9.450) competition and tied Army's Joe Baumann for first-place on parallel bars (8.550). Maes also finished second on floor exercise with a score of 9.250.
Ramos, a current member of the Puerto Rican National Team, finished first on both floor exercise (9.300) and high bar (9.450). He also placed third on the pommel horse with a score of 8.450.
Senior captain Toros Torcomian shared first-place honors with Army's Brian Lees on rings (9.700). Fellow senior Zach-Hanson Hart contributed to the Owl effort by placing third on both floor exercise (8.900) and on vault (9.100). Senior Kevin Hallinan added a second-place finish on pommel horse (8.650) and a third place finish in the all-around competition.
Army's sole first-place finish came from Nate Hitchcock on pommel horse (8.700), while Southern Connecticut's Curtis Haines provided the team's only first-place finish in the all-around (51.400).
The Temple men's gymnastics team next competes in two dual meets on the road this weekend. The Owls take-on William & Mary on Saturday, January 24 and James Madison on Sunday, January 25.
