MAES AND RAMOS LEAD INDIVIDUALS AS TEAM FALLS TO #5 PSU

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA -- The Temple men's gymnastics team fell, 213.255 to 206.975, to fifth-ranked Penn State in a dual meet at Rec Hall on Saturday, February 14. Senior Theo Maes and junior David Ramos led the Owls in points scored with strong individual performances against Nittany Lions.
Maes, the overall individual leader, brought home a first, second, and third place finish for the Owls. Maes won the vault competition with a 9.400 score. On horizontal bar Maes scored a 8.450 to tie Penn State's Jerker Taudien for second. Maes grabbed a third place on the floor with a 9.100 score.
With a 9.200 score Ramos captured first on floor, his most consistent event. Ramos also earned a second-place finish on parallel bars with an 8.700 score.
Junior Nyika White, an All-American on rings, returned to the Owls' line-up for the first time this season after suffering a preseason injury. White provided a solid performance on rings and placed third with a 9.700 score.
In the all-around competition senior Kevin Hallinan finished third with a 49.050. Although Hallinan did not finish in the top three on any event, he accumulated enough points by performing consistently on all events to earn a top spot in the all-around.
