RAMOS SCORES BIG AS MEN'S GYMNASTICS TEAM DEFEATS ILLINOIS-CHICAGO

CHICAGO -- Junior David Ramos and senior Theodore Maes combined for three first place finishes as the Temple men's gymnastics team defeated the University of Illinois at Chicago 213.600-212.725.

Ramos led the Owl effort against the Flames as he finished first on both pommel horse (9.45) and high bar (9.200). Ramos also added a second place finish on parallel bars (8.700). Competitive on every apparatus, Ramos placed second overall in the all-around competition with a 53.625 score.

Maes, the Owls' strongest vaulter, won the event with a 9.400 score. Maes also placed third on floor exercise (9.150) and horizontal bar (8.750). Classmate Zach Hanson-Hart placed in front of Maes on floor exercise with a 9.150 score.

On rings junior Nyika White and senior Toros Torcomian took second and third, respectively. White scored 9.650 on the apparatus, while Torcomian finished with a 9.200 score.

Senior Kevin Hallinan added a third place finish on pommel horse with a 8.900 score.

The men's gymnastics team will next take on Navy in its final regular season meet on Saturday, March 13 in Annapolis, Md.
