RAMOS WINS TWO INDIVIDUAL ECAC TITLES AS THE MEN'S GYMNASTICS TEAM IS ELEVATED TO THIRD PLACE

CHICAGO -- Following a scoring inquiry prior to the start of today's individual competition at the 2004 ECAC Men's Gymnastics Championships, the judges boosted Temple's team score by .050 points to elevate the Owls into a two-way tie with William and Mary for a 211.475 third place finish. Individually, junior David Ramos captured the ECAC Championship title on both floor exercise and on horizontal bar with a 9.200 and 9.025 score, respectively.
On floor exercise, senior Theo Maes finished close behind Ramos with a 9.150 score to take second place. Classmate John Behrle finished in seventh place on the apparatus with a 8.700 score.
With a 9.800 score on still rings, junior Nyika White placed .025 points behind champion Brian Lee to take second in the event. Senior Toros Torcomian placed sixth in the event with a 9.300 score.
On vault Maes scored a 9.375 to place second, while freshman Alex Gorski earned a 8.650 score to take ninth place.
Ramos and Maes both placed on parallel bars. Ramos took second with a 8.850 score, while Maes place eighth with a 7.00.
On horizontal bar senior Kevin Hallinan added a fourth place finish with a 8.725 score.
The Temple men's gymnastics team awaits the March 23 selection date for the 2004 NCAA National Men's Gymnastics Championship meet, featuring the country's ten best teams and 42 individual gymnasts. The University of Illinois hosts the championship meet April 2-4.
